RIP Marc - I can't believe it's been three years. I still wait for texts from him that say "what's up ho? I'm in town, let's drink beers." - haha he was hilarious (and despite saying "ho", Marc was actually a VERY sweet guy - we met in 6th grade when i moved to darnestown, briefly dated in high school and stayed good friends through college)


To keep sane and cope, my family and I keep in touch with the Cocozzella family year-round. We love to get together to drink wine, make pizza in their imported italian pizza oven (seriously.), talk about good times with Marc, and continue to create new memories. They are the most amazingly strong, caring and kind family...it really upsets me to see such a terrible thing happen to such great people.

I always keep you and your family in my prayers, Marc....11.12.07. Until we meet again...

Frugality & Abundance

seem like opposites don't they? i will make them work together.

Frugality is the practice of

1. Acquiring goods and services in a restrained manner,and
2. Resourcefully using already owned economic goods and services, to achieve a longer term goal

Abundance

1. A great or plentiful amount.

2. Fullness to overflowing: "My thoughts . . . are from the abundance of my heart" (Thomas De Quincey).

3. Affluence; wealth.

frugality because in 2009, especially, i kept finding myself making purchases "because i can" - when in reality, i can't. one day i need to buy a house!
Sure, I have a million pairs of cute shoes and plenty of cute jewelry and clothing...but really, where does that get me? Why not spend money on a useful hobby? My current hobbies include crafts which i can double as jewelry (which are somewhat expensive, but well worth the time and money in the end!) and cooking!!! I'd love my own set of kitchen supplies - nice ones. not hand-me-down knives that chop my fingers off at every opportunity.
for right now, i don't need these things. i will use what i have, when i can, to make do. and i will spend wisely, "because i can."

abundance because i need to learn about to continue to live the crazy life i currently do, in a healthier manner. i know, i know - everyone wants to be healthy in the new year. but i will look at it differently, i need to live with an abundance of heart, while working my way up to affluence and wealth. I will work hard to reach my goals, they are important to me. in 2010, i'll take/give all the overflowing love that I can :) and if you want to give me money, i'll take that too!

combining these two should give me a pretty healthy balance of what my life should be this next year - i think it'll be just perfect!

Just got the cutest idea for our anniversary gift! I have been dating Tom for a year now - so exciting!

with my recent crafty activities, i have decided to make something inspired by this:

However, I'll be using cards he has given me, tickets of sports game we've been to, Harry Potter reference of sorts (first "date", we're so cool), and various other little trinkets in picture form that remind me of us! and i plan on doing 12, representing the 12 months we've been together. and behind it all as the background will be the note i wrote to my amazing friend Meesh (check out her blog!) about how it all got started between the two of us...

Birthday !

hii!!

ahhh yes, the birthday extravaganza blog! It was glorious! Matt and I have birthdays on the 17th and 19th of October and plenty of the same friends - so we teamed up (more like I forced myself into the mix) and had a hokie celebration/birthday party in Adam's Morgan this weekend! He went home early (sukka), so i have no pictures with him.


Started at Town Tavern.

the waitress was so accomodating and amazing
free shots when the hokies score/win (which didnt really happen in this game...)
$10 all you can drink beer during the game! amazing.

at some point after the game, i gave my camera to my dear polish friend, alex.
she captured through photo the essence of the evening.
needless to say, it was hilarious/awesome/amazing/fun/crazy/hammertime all mixed into one!

We made our way over to Peyote Cafe - a hole in the wall Karaoke bar right next to (i think) Town Tavern.
we all sang. we all danced. we all blacked out.
i requested Party in the U.S.A. about 30 times. and got rejected about 30 times.
