Claire is my one and only sister, and i suppose she is my bestest friend.
her 3 main characteristics:

HILARIOUS (inappropriate)
friendly (in a creepy way)
smart (but when it comes to common sense, retarded)

she is also a lot of other things, but i'll leave previous posts open for that.


she is a first year MBA student at GW - specializing in Sports Mgmt.
her dream is to marry (and then quickly divorce) a Professional Sports player
and she always follows her dreams
she felt this was step 1.

her and i also both went to VIRGINIA TECH and were members of Sigma Kappa together!
nothing.better.in.the.world. I was soooo excited when she got her bid! (almost 5 years ago now...whoa.)

Dislike Monday #2

DISLIKE #2: COLD WEATHER.
don't care if it comes in the fall, winter, or spring. no me gusta.

i do loveee scarves though...and thinking about getting myself one of these


give me sun, beach, 80 degrees+, bbqs, concerts, and an ice cold adult beverage any day....

Pumpkin Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Icing

HAPPY FALL!

my intro to fall were the most amazing pumpkin cupcakes that i found here! I altered the recipe a little bit, but they were super simple to make and SOOO yummy!

i felt like paula deen adding all sorts of butter and cream cheese and sugar - but i went with fat free or reduced fat wherever i could...

here is the recipe!
Cupcakes
2 1/4 c. flour, sift before measuring
1 T. baking powder
1/2 t. baking soda
1/2 t. salt
3/4 t. cinnamon
1/2 t. ginger
1/2 t. nutmeg
(I measured equivalent amt of what was supposed to be cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg and used Pumpkin Pie spice in it's place. cheaper/faster)
1/2 c. butter, softened
1 1/3 c. sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 c. canned pumpkin
3/4 c. milk

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line cupcake pans with liners (this makes about 18).
In a large bowl, sift dry ingredients together and set aside.
Cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time. Mix in pumpkin.



Alternate stirring in the dry ingredients and the milk, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Scrape down the bowl and stir until blended.
Spoon into liners and bake for 20-25 minutes.



Cream Cheese Frosting
1lb. cream cheese, softened and cut into small pieces
6 T. unslted butter, softened and cut into small pieces
1 1/2 t. vanilla extract
5 cups sifted confectioners sugar



In a large bowl, beat the butter and cream cheese until very smooth. Add vanilla and beat. Add sugar, one cup at a time, beating continuously.

they were ok...next time - more flavor is necessary. perhaps a sauce?

Birthday !

hii!!

ahhh yes, the birthday extravaganza blog! It was glorious! Matt and I have birthdays on the 17th and 19th of October and plenty of the same friends - so we teamed up (more like I forced myself into the mix) and had a hokie celebration/birthday party in Adam's Morgan this weekend! He went home early (sukka), so i have no pictures with him.


Started at Town Tavern.
could.not.say.anything.bad.about.this.place
the waitress was so accomodating and amazing
free shots when the hokies score/win (which didnt really happen in this game...)
$10 all you can drink beer during the game! amazing.

at some point after the game, i gave my camera to my dear polish friend, alex.
she captured through photo the essence of the evening.
needless to say, it was hilarious/awesome/amazing/fun/crazy/hammertime all mixed into one!

We made our way over to Peyote Cafe - a hole in the wall Karaoke bar right next to (i think) Town Tavern.
we all sang. we all danced. we all blacked out.
i requested Party in the U.S.A. about 30 times. and got rejected about 30 times.

Dislike Monday #1

ok, so one of my favorite lists to keep is a list of things i don't like....or hate. either one.

my roomate ktbo and i really "hate" (we use the word a lot without realizing how strong it is) a lot of very random things. we started a list, it was endless...

Since Mondays suck, and things I hate suck, I decided to pair the two and blog about what i hate on Mondays.

FIRST ITEM ON THE LIST: CHEWING OUT LOUD.

crunch crunch crunch!
no. die in a fire. chew elsewhere.
this is one thing that drives me absolutely nuts. no one else has this same hatred, no one understands, but it's one of my quirks that i'd like to get rid of. I live with 5 people, have a big family, and a crunchtastic boyfriend. I am always around chewing. always. crunching is the worst. second worst, gum smacking. gaaaaaaah the thought makes me want to kill myself.


One crunchy food I can accept: Cap'n Crunch. because its fantastic.

Hello Sunshine!

For the past week or so in DC, it's been rainy and freeeezing outside. no me gusta. frizzy hair, soggy bottoms of the pants, cold fingers and toes. no one wants that.




God must love me, because its a beautiful, (and NOT freezing) sunshiny, fall day here in our nation's capitol! AND it's my birthday! Celebrating tonight with family and the boyfriend - couldn't be more excited!

a little bit about me

I don't know the order of posting in the blogging world, and that little sidebar doesn't say much....so...without further adoooo...

I am a 24-yr-old girl paying way too much in rent to live in Arlington, VA. There is no place in the US I'd rather live than the DC area :) Now if it was the world....send me anywhere.

I live in a house with 4 of my best girl friends and my crazy pitbull/carolina dog mix, Sienna


my dog is absolutely crazy, destroys a majority of the things i own, and pooped in the house until she was a year old.
but i love her more than anything - and now that she is calming down, i love her even more
you'll notice a huge black thing around her neck.
it's a bark collar.
and it works miracles.
she has two different colored eyes, the blue one is the devil's spawn in her, the brown is the snuggler.
i think she is precious. most people i know would not agree with that statement.

I have the best family in the whole wide world - my mom and dad are amazing. My sister, Claire, is just okay. haha just kidding, i love her too.

To-do: come up with more lists

I have about ten thousands lists that i keep in my little brain at all times (i.e. - categorized shopping lists: clothes, groceries, target- get its own list, crafts; life: various appts, ordering refills of meds - not crazy pills, work stuff) and I try really hard to write them all down. Unfortunately, I don't always have my handy dandy little notebook (haha Blue's Clues reference) with me.

One of these days, I'll turn my little to-do lists into TA-DA lists. SO LAME, i know. it was too lame to not use.

Welcome to the big To-do!

ahhhh....my first blog post.

In all reality, this blog started because I had "come up with blog idea" on a to-do list.
Another to-do list that I'll never finish, I'm sure.

Here's what's on my list to get started....

• come up with ideas for blogs...themes? each weekday something different?
